Unit #7 Blog
Okay so for this week’s mediation
I was a bit lost it didn’t really take me out of myself like the others did. I tried
to focus on someone I thought of as a teacher and "Oprah Whifrey" came to mind.
She didn’t stay for long because I wasn’t really able to get focus on her life
and what I’ve learnt. So I changed to the ones that had the most impact on my
life thus far, subtle mind and loving kindness. Whenever I focus my energy
inward, following the direction and sounds it is as though I’m in this deep
sleep in a cabin on the mountain top. Wind blowing and the windows open allow
life to flow feeling throughout the cabin. These past weeks I’ve felt my energy
going from I’m lost and feeling down to I feel alive, there is healing within
my body. I smile more and move about more than I did before! I will continue to
do mediation; actually I’ve gone and signed up for classes!!!!!!!!
This is funny as to the importance
of professional walking the walk; because I remember asking a marriage
counselor this question. I asked her if she had ever been marriage before, she
stood listen for a moment then said no. I in return said until you have walked
a mile in my shoe you can’t really counsel me on being married, so please tell me of the books you
have read so I can go and read them for myself. This is the same when it comes
to holistic healthcare professionals; they need to practice what they preach.
If their life is out of alignment how can they guide you to a point of
wholeness if they have not the nearest clue what that is!

Unit #6 Blog
When comparing loving kindness
against integral assessment I came up with the results being, loving kindness
was more centered on giving onto others. Extracting ourselves from the equation
all together; but on the other hand, integral assessment brought me back to
look internally (more intrinsic) to produce results. It speaks to areas of
personal development.
As far as areas of opportunity to
use what I’ve learnt so far? I
discovered it would benefit me in becoming a better listener. At times I tend
to jump the gun on some things. Saying to myself “this sound like something I’ve
heard before so it should be it” and I’ll treat the situation and the person
with the same attitude when this maybe far from the truth. So to implement what
I’ve learnt, I will start by using the loving kindness exercise a bit more. I’ve
also decided to not stand when speaking to an individual but rather sit to show
them I’m actually giving them time and time to listen to what they have to say.

Unit#5 Subtle mind
Well looking back on Loving
Kindness exercise and comparing subtle mind I must say I found loving kindness a
bit enlightening over the subtle mind. Reason for this, the long pause and
connecting with the mind feeling its every move was somewhat painful for me. It
took me to places where I really didn’t want to go or remember. Loving Kindness
was okay for me, I was able to identify with the exercise. But I learnt that I don’t
have to go off with my mind; but acknowledge my thoughts and bring my attention
back to the present.
Spiritual wellness for me is
reading my bible or a scripture each day. This helps with my mental awareness,
boost my confidence levels which in turn uplift my physical wellness on a day
to day bases.

Unit #4 Loving Kindness, mental workout
I found this experience to be an
eye opener in the sense that I really don’t take enough time for me. It’s
almost as though I feel guilty trying to sit, lay and relax for 15 minutes. I
feel as though I should be doing something. Or due to my health issues I’m
already in a place of not doing that much so to stop and take yet more time it’s
like really asking for too much. This is where I know I beat up on myself, way
too much. So this exercise for me was a bit difficult, even though I’m able to identity
with the benefits. I would most certainly recommend this to others. It’s the relax,
stop and smell the roses once in a while that most people miss out on. Mental
workout in my understanding is stages in which we develop the mind. Just as
though we workout the physical body we need to do the same for the mental
element of the whole (self). The benefit is that we get to flourish/evolve
within our psychospiritual life (Dacher, 2006). I can focus on using
"mental workout" as intake of positive reinforcement for my mind on levels of consciousness and unity from within to "train and tame the mind"( Dacher, 2006). Take time to
love on me, to in return be able to give love to others.

Unit#2 Welcome and reflective
Hello Everyone,
Isn't it great to know that we are now able to communicate with each others within seconds of our thoughts? All thanks goes to the great minds of the past who dare to dream, and just to dream but dream big; big enough to change your life and mine. I'm learning each day how to navigate various websites because of them. Developing this blog, as easy as it now seems to maneuver, at first it felt like I was losing my mind. It felt as though professor had sent out to go and move one of the national monuments! But I'm loving the challenge it brings, because around very corner I can say I completed the task and learnt something new.
Reflecting on our listening material I must say It took me to a place of peace. A place I never knew excited with a 14yr and a 3yr old under the same roof. I never knew I was able to speak/tell my body to relax and it would go into a state of relaxation. I actually felt the blood as it moved through my body. The tingling sensation throughout my arms and legs; they felt alive for the first time. Well that's outside of watching them move me about each day! I do hope these upcoming weeks become more and more enlightening and empowering for us all.
See you soon Recca!

Unit#3 self assessment
My physical wellbeing is suffering
at the moment. One, due to medications and its inflicting limitations and two,
when I had the opportunity to take full control over it, I didn’t. I always
wanted to (and still will, in the near future run at least a mile a day) or
ride a bike ten miles to the beach. Spiritually I see myself as being young, I’m
still seeking, searching to know and understand more about what is or should
be. So I’m just not following family tradition. As to my psychological
well-being, at the moment it is a bit troubled. I have not developed or find
that balance as of yet. I have not fully learned to acknowledge the mind and
its thoughts, then not allowing it to take me over and disrupt my present state
or demeanor.
My goal which I’ve already started
on to develop in all three areas is: Daily while brushing my teeth in my
mornings, I’ve start to do 20 squats within that 2-3 minutes of brushing my
teeth. Spiritually I’m listening and reading to more messages every morning. I’ve
also incorporated some “me and my mind time” to acknowledge how I’m feeling in that
moment. Then psychological I’m practicing positive self-talk; while also
listening to positive things from motivational speakers.
After completing the relaxation exercise
I feel more empowered to follow through on the path I’m on with self-acknowledgement
and the small baby step towards recovery. So I would say it was very
beneficial! It helped me to know I belong, I deserve, and that I’m creating my balance,
with every waken day that I continue to feed positive images and thoughts and
messages to my mind.
